NCAA All American Track and Cross Country Athlete, Boise State 1995-97

Jose Uribe earned two NCAA All-American awards during his career running for the Broncos. He received his first award at the 1996 NCAA Outdoor National Track and Field Championships with a fourth place finish in the 10,000-meter run. His second national honor came at the 1996 NCAA National Cross Country Championships when he placed 12th. Uribe made a total of three appearances at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Along with his trip in 1996, Uribe also participated in the 1994 and 1995 championships. At the conference level, Uribe won two individual league championships. He won the 1995 outdoor title in the 10,000-meter run, and in 1996 he became the first Boise State student-athlete to win a Big West Conference Championship when he won the league’s individual cross-country title. Upon his induction into Boise State’s Hall of Fame, Uribe continued to be the Bronco record holder in two events. He holds the school’s indoor 5,000-meter run record with a time of 14:08.76, and the outdoor 10,000-meter record with a time of 29:08.32.
