Tanoka Beard
- Induction:
- 2024
All-Big Sky Basketball Player, Boise State All-Time Leading Scorer
Tanoka Beard enters the Hall of Fame as Boise State's all-time leading scorer with 1,944 points – a record which has stood for 30 years.
The Ogden, Utah, native was a three-time first-team All-Big Sky player (1991-93) and was the league's freshman of the year in 1990. Beard is one of two players in program history (Chris Childs) to have been named to the all-conference first team three-times.Â
He was named the MVP of the 1993 Big Sky Tournament after leading the Broncos to win the championship over top-seeded Idaho – he scored 27 points in an 80-68 win over the host Vandals which secured only the third NCAA Tournament appearance in program history at the time.Â
Beard owns three of the top-20 scoring seasons in program history, and the former center still ranks in the top 10 in several categories in the career record book, including but not limited to: first in blocks (160), second in field goals made (676), third in scoring average (17.7) and seventh in total rebounds (670).
