Troy Merritt continued his stellar senior season as he recorded his third victory of the year. He posted a school-record 16-under 200 at the Ron Moore Invitational to capture the fourth individual title of his career. For his performance Merritt was named Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for the week of Mar. 16-23. Merritt is averaging 69.8 strokes per round this year with a low round of 64 (-8).
Matt Hastings finished second to Merritt at the Ron Moore Invitational with a 10-under 206 for his career-best finish. Hasting is tied for second on the Bronco’s all-time list for career top 25 finishes (19) and fourth in career top 10 finishes (8).
Sophomore John Baranco has participated in all seven tournaments for the Broncos and is averaging 72.3 strokes per round. He finished tied for second place at the Wolf Pack Classic with a career-low 5-under 211. Baranco led or was second on
Kevin Tarango posted career-best in a variety of categories at the Fresno State Lexus Classic. He recorded a career-low round of 69 (-3) and a low three-round score of 216 (E). He also posted his best collegiate finish as he placed 31st in the tournament. Tarango is averaging 76.4 strokes per round with a low round of 69 (-3).
Drew Surmeier registered his career-best finish at the Ron Moore Invitational when he posted a 10-over 226. Surmeier is averaging 79.0 strokes per round with a low-round of 76 (+4).
