Broncos Close Fall Season With 17th Place Finish...

Las Cruces, N.M. (10/27/2009) - Boise State men’s golf carded a three-day total of 883 (+31) at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M., on Tuesday to place 17th overall. The Broncos fired a 23-over 307 this morning to wrap-up the event and their fall schedule. Leading Boise State was junior Chris Byrne who finished with a total of 2-over 215 after shooting a 7-over-par 78 today to tie for 34th.   

The Broncos struggled on the final day of the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate recording a 23-over 307 to slip two spots on the leaderboard to finish 17th. Number 17 UNLV, as ranked by Golfweek Magazine, won the tournament with a 23-under 829.

Following Byrne for the Broncos was freshman Taeksoo Kim who shot a third-round total of 5-over 76 today. He finished the competition with a 218 (+5) and in a six-way tie for 47th.

Rounding out the day for Boise State was senior Robbie Richards at 12-over 225 (75-74-76), followed by senior John Baranco with a 13-over 226 (75-73-78) and sophomore Blake Brown with a 16-over 229 (76-76-77).

This concludes the fall portion of the Boise State men’s golf schedule. Next up, the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational Feb. 8-9 in St. George, Utah.
