BOISE, Idaho – With just a little over a week left of fall camp, the competition is getting tighter and its making it tougher for football head coach Chris Petersen to zero in on his top pick. However it was freshman Tommy Smith that grabbed Coach Pete’s attention as he was chosen as Camper of the Day.
“He’s really worked hard all camp,” said Petersen. “He works hard during each rep at practice and he’s going to be a nice backer for us this fall.”
Smith, a linebacker from Atlanta, Ga., redshirted during the Broncos 2008 WAC championship season. He was named to the Atlanta Journal Constitution All-City team and earned second-team all-conference honors as a senior after finishing with 87 tackles, 12 sacks, eight tackles for loss and two interceptions.
