Jeremy Ioane Passes Away

Ioane played for Boise State from 2010-14, helped the Broncos to four bowl wins
BOISE, Idaho – Jeremy Ioane, a former Boise State safety who was a member of the 2014 Fiesta Bowl championship-winning team, passed away this week.
Out of Honolulu, Hawai'i, Ioane was a member of Boise State football from 2010 to 2014 and was a part of four bowl-champion teams. After redshirting in 2010, he went on to be named All-Mountain West Honorable Mention in 2012, All-Mountain West Second Team in 2013, and a preseason Jim Thorpe Award candidate in 2014.
As a Bronco, Ioane played in 41 career games, including 29 starts. He finished with 146 tackles and five interceptions in his career. His first career start was against Georgia in 2011 as a redshirt freshman, and he went on to start 25 of 26 games between the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
Ioane battled through kidney disease during his playing days at Boise State, undergoing dialysis treatment in his final season as a Bronco. He started the first three games of 2014, but due to the disease, he was forced to a reserve role for the remainder of the year. He still managed to total two interceptions along with 11 tackles, the last of which was on Senior Night against Utah State.
His journey was shared through the message and hashtag of #10aneStrong, as his No. 10 jersey and play on the field was fondly remembered by so many of Bronco Nation. During his senior year in 2014, #10aneStrong shirts were worn by Boise State fans to show their support for Ioane in his final season.
In May 2015, he underwent a kidney transplant surgery as his twin sister, Jasmine, was the donor.Â
Ioane also inspired years of Hawaiians as members of the Bronco football program. Starting with Ioane in 2010, Boise State has featured at least one player from Hawai'i on its roster.
