Athlete of the Week 8/31-9/5: Winston Venable

BOISE, Idaho – After a very impressive Bronco debut, junior transfer Winston Venable has been named the Bronco Athlete of the Week for Aug. 31-Sept.5. Venable played a major role in the Broncos 19-8 victory over Oregon on Thursday.
Venable, a native of San Raphael, Calif., led the Broncos with five tackles after earning the starting spot at nickel back during fall camp. He helped the defense stymie the high-powered Oregon offense. The Bronco defense not only held the Ducks to eight points, but also did not allow a first down until almost halfway through the third quarter. The Ducks only held the ball for 5:10 in the first half and 17:28 overall.
Venable’s contributions on the field also helped the Broncos hold the Ducks to only 31 yards rushing and 152 total yards on offense. Venable and the Broncos will host Miami (OH) on the Blue on Sat., Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.
