Broncos Fall at Denver 79-62

DENVER- Anthony Drmic scored each of his team-high 14 points in the second half to help lead a late charge, but the Boise State men's basketball team fell 79-62 to Denver Saturday at Magness Arena. The Broncos dropped to 8-3 on the season, and the Pioneers improved to 8-2.
Drmic was one of four Broncos in double figures, as Derrick Marks chipped in 13, Westly Perrman added 12 and Kenny Buckner scored 11. Perryman also pulled down a game-high seven rebounds.
Denver opened the game on an 11-0 run before the Broncos ended their scoring drought four-plus minutes in. Boise State went just 7-of-19 (.368) from the floor in the opening period, while the Pioneers went 15-of-21 (.714).
In addition to the shooting differential, only two Broncos scored more than two points in the first half, culminating in a 36-22 lead for Denver entering intermission. Buckner and Marks each scored nine first-half points.
Boise State missed its first six 3-point attempts and failed to knock one down in the opening half, the first time this season the Broncos went an entire period without a 3-pointer.
Denver pushed its advantage to 19 with 8:25 remaining in the second half, but Drmic helped jump start a 19-7 run, knocking down the team's first 3-pointer more than 12 minutes into the second period.
Boise State was able to cut its deficit to seven (61-54), but it was as close as it was able to get.
The Broncos improved their shooting in the second half, knocking down 13-of-28 (.464).
The Broncos return home to Taco Bell Arena Monday, hosting Fresno State at 7 p.m.
