Bronco Men's Tennis Takes Three from Georgia

JOHNS CREEK, Ga.-Boise State men's tennis opened its season with a split against Georgia, Friday, at the Georgia-Boise State Kickoff Classic in Johns Creek, Ga. The Broncos and Bulldogs each won two singles matches and a doubles match.
Boise State was led by redshirt junior James Meredith, who won the No. 1 singles match and joined redshirt junior Scott Sears to claim a doubles win. Meredith defeated Saido Doumbia 7-6(4), 6-3. Meredith, the 2010 WAC Player of the Year, was seeing his first match action in nearly a year after redshirting the 2011 spring season.
Meredith and Sears defeated the tandem of Diaz and Nathan Pasha, 8-6.
Sophomore Nathan Sereke also claimed a singles victory for the Broncos. Sereke defeated Eric Diaz in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
Sears fell in his singles match 6-1, 6-2 to Wil Spencer. Redshirt freshman Aidan Reid dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision to Pasha in singles action. Reid and Sereke fell to Doumbia and Spencer in doubles competition, 8-4.
The teams will meet again Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. (ET), before the Boise State and Georgia football teams meet in the Chik-Fil-A Kickoff Game at 8 p.m. (ET) at the Georgia Dome.
