Henton and Lenhardt Earn MW Postseason Honors

BOISE, Idaho - The Mountain West announced its 2013 women’s basketball honors this afternoon and among those listed were Boise State’s Brandi Henton and Lauren Lenhardt. Henton was named the MW Newcomer of the Year and honorable-mention all-conference, while Lenhardt earned her second-consecutive second-team All-MW honor. Voting for postseason honors was by the nine head coaches among the league’s member institutions.
The MW Newcomer of the Year and honorable-mention All-MW honors are the first postseason accolades for Henton since arriving at Boise State last summer. The redshirt-sophomore from Modesto, Calif., averaged 10.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 26.2 minutes per game. She shot 33.4 percent from the floor, 24.7 percent from beyond the arc with 39 makes, and 62.5 percent from the free-throw line. Henton was 14th in scoring during the conference season averaging 12.1 points per game. She recorded 15 games with double-figure points with a Boise State career-high 29 points at Colorado State on March 2.
Lauren Lenhardt has had an outstanding career at Boise State earning back-to-back second-team All-MW recognition. The senior from Eagle, Idaho, battled double teams the entire season to lead the Broncos and rank fourth in the MW on the year for scoring at 15.8 points per game, in league games she also ranked fourth in scoring at 16.9 points per game. On the year, Lenhardt ranked fourth in the league for rebounding at 7.0 per game, sixth in field goal percentage at 44.3 percent, led the conference in free throw percentage hitting 82 percent and fifth in blocked shots at 1.2 per game. The senior forward also led the league in free throw percentage during MW competition making 89.3 percent (50-56) of her attempts. The three-time MW Player of the Week honoree in 2012-13 recorded a MW third-best seven double-doubles on the year, recorded 23 double figure scoring games and seven in rebounding. She also led the team in scoring during 17 of 28 games played this season.
Entering this week’s Reese’s Mountain West Basketball Championship in Las Vegas, Lenhardt is one point shy of tying for sixth in career scoring at Boise State with 1,357 points, as well as one rebound shy of tying for 10th all-time in program history for rebounding with 625 to date.
The duo will lead Boise State into this week’s 2013 Reese’s Mountain West Basketball Championship in Las Vegas, Nev., with a quarterfinal match-up against No. 2 seed Fresno State at 7 p.m. (Mountain) in the Thomas & Mack Center at UNLV.
