Trio Leads Broncos to Another Top Five Finish

LAS VEGAS – Sammie Pless, Samantha Martin and Hayley Young each finished in the top 20 at the Lady Bison Classic Friday, leading the Boise State women’s golf team to a fifth-place finish.
Pless, a freshman, carded a final-round 73 (+1) at the par-72, 6004-yard Snow Mountain Course at Paiute, finishing with a two-round total of 153 (+9). She tied for 12th place to lead the Broncos, her third top-25 finish this season and her second-straight.
Fellow freshman Martin finished with a 36-hole score of 154 (76-78; +10), tying for 15th at the event. Young, a senior, carded a two-round total of 156 (79-77; +12), earning a share of 20th.
Martin has finished in the top 25 in five-consecutive tournaments, while Young has posted top-25 efforts in each of the team’s six tournaments thus far – tying her career high and tied for the sixth-highest total in a single season in Boise State history.
Young now has 18-career top-25 efforts, tied for the third-most in school history.
The trio led Boise State to a fifth-place finish with a team score of 622 (+46). The Broncos have four top-five finishes this season, the most since also recording four in 2004-05.
Freshman McKenzie Ford (79-80—159; +15) and senior Lori Harper (82-80—162; +18) rounded out the scoring for the Bronco contingent.
Boise State will head straight to the BYU at Entrada Classic in St. George, Utah, which will take place Monday and Tuesday.
