SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Boise State's sand volleyball team fell in the first of two matches on Saturday 4-1 to the Pacific Tigers at the Sacramento State Invitational. Aly Duffin and Katelyn Kinghorn led the Broncos against the Tigers with a straight set 21-9, 21-18 win at No. 5 pairs. The loss drops the first year Broncos to 1-2 on the year with a match against Santa Clara on the slate for later today.
Duffin's and Kinghorn' s victory was the second of the weekend for the duo as they defeated Pacific's Jessica Diederich and Francesca Zaragoza to give the Broncos a short lived 1-0 lead.
It was all Pacific after that as the Tigers won the final four matches to claim the team victory and improve to 4-1 on the year. Boise State's Casey Rose and Taylor Murphey fell to Katy Tagart and Megan Birch at the fours 27-25, 21-12 to move to 1-1 on the year.
Kaitlyn Oliver and Sarah Baugh went down at No. 3 pairs to Pacific's Mia Feiner and Gillian Howard 21-19, 21-13. Followed by Boise State losses at No. 2 pairs where Sarah Horton and Laney Hayes were defeated 21-11, 21-13; as well as Alyssa Gammel's and Brittany Reardon's straight-set 21-5, 21-16 loss at No. 1 pairs.
