The Boise State gymnastics team hosted Southern Utah University in its 2015 home opener and 15th edition of Beauty and the Beast. Boise State topped Southern Utah on each apparatus while sweeping individual event titles. The Broncos tabulated a final score of 196.725, their ninth-highest score in school history.

Boise State faced conference foe Southern Utah for the second-straight meet. The Broncos started the night on vault and recorded a 49.225, mirroring their score from the season opener. Like the meet prior, a captain excelled on vault. Ciera Perkins tied her career high on the apparatus, marking a 9.925 and earning the event win. Perkins now has six career event wins on vault and 25 total event wins on her career.

Freshman Ann Stockwell improved from her first meet, landing a 9.875 for the second-best score of the night. Overall four Bronco gymnasts set personal bests on vault: Perkins, Stockwell, Lianne Josbacher (9.750) and Sandra Collantes (9.750). Kelsey Morris (9.850) and Maddie Krentz (9.825) helped Boise State record the top four individual scores on vault.

The Broncos rotated to bars where sophomore Diana Mejia stood out. The Vancouver, Wash., native earned a 9.875 to capture the individual title in the event for her fourth-career bars win. That mark also tied her career high. Captains Krentz and Perkins tied for second overall, recording a 9.850. Junior Krystine Jacobsen set her season best, marking a 9.825, while sophomore Mackenzie Bennion set her career high with a 9.775. Overall Boise State tallied a 49.200 for their second-highest event score of the night. The Broncos led at the halfway mark and never looked back.

On the third rotation on balance beam, sophomore Paige Urquhart recorded her career best 9.875, pacing the Broncos and earning the event title. Urquhart earned just her second-career event win and helped the Broncos to a 49.175 on the apparatus.

Mejia and Jacobsen tied for the second-highest score of the night with a 9.850. Jacobsen improved on her season and career best with a 9.825.

Floor exercise was the last event of the night for the blue and orange. Morris and Mackenzie Bennion tied for the event win with a pair of 9.875 marks. The score marked Bennion's career high and first event win, while Morris earned her 18th career event win. Morris would go on to win the all-around title with a score of 39.200 for her 19th win. The Broncos scored a 49.125 on the night, topping the Thunderbirds 196.725-195.750. Overall, four different Broncos earned individual event wins and Boise State recorded seven new career-high scores.

Up next for the Broncos is another meet against a conference opponent. They will travel and compete against Utah State, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m.
