Boise State Falls 6-1 at No. 52 Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash. - Boise State's women's tennis team fell for the first time this semester in a 6-1 loss at No. 52 Washington State Saturday afternoon in Pullman, Wash. Megan LaLone led the Broncos with a straight-set 6-2, 6-0 singles victory on court five. Boise State is now 2-1 on the year in duals. The Broncos return home next weekend to host Seattle U. and Weber State.
The day began with doubles where the Cougars took the team point with victories on courts one and two. Boise State's Naomi de Hart and Milena Toseva fell 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, followed by a 6-2 loss on court two by Bobbi Oshiro and Sammie Watson. It was the first loss of the semester for the Oshiro/Watson tandem.
The third doubles match was suspended once the team point was decided. The Boise State pair of Arianna Paules Aldrey and Megan LaLone were up 5-2 when the match was stopped.
In singles the Broncos saw Megan LaLone record the lone team point with a straight-set 6-2, 6-0 victory over WSU's Victoria Matejevic on court five. The junior from Stanwood, Wash., is now 2-0 in duals this semester.
Paules Aldrey fell on court three 6-1, 6-3 followed shortly after by Vosburgh with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat on court one to make the team score 3-0 Washington State.
The match was clinched for the Cougars following two tough three set losses by Bobbi Oshiro and Milena Toseva. Both won their opening set then fell as their Cougar opponents rallied. Oshiro fell 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 on court four to Donika Bashota, while Toseva lost 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-1 on court two to Maria Biryukova.
The final match of the day on court six also went to Washington State when Watson fell to the Cougars' Nastia Vasyukhina 6-1,6-2.
