DENTON, Texas (9/12/2015) - Boise State made easy work of Abilene Christian Saturday afternoon sweeping the Wildcats 25-10, 25-15, 25-20 to claim the North Texas Invitational title with a perfect 3-0 mark on the weekend. Freshman Reece Carman led the Broncos against ACU with a team-high 11 kills, while the Boise State defense held the Wildcats to 7.4 percent hitting, the best defensive performance of the year for the Blue and Orange. Combined with the sweep over Houston earlier in the day the Broncos have now won five straight as they improved to 6-3 overall.

"Great offensive and defensive performances to get the three-set sweep over Abilene Christian," coach Shawn Garus said. "Our passing was on target and Sarah (Baugh) was outstanding at locating sets to hitters in rhythm. It was nice to see Reece (Carman) play so well and gain some confidence as a young player."

The win versus ACU gave the tournament title to Boise State, the Broncos second title in the state of Texas in two years after winning the Islander Classic in Corpus Christi in 2014. Boise State was well represented on the North Texas Invitational All-Tournament Team as Sierra Nobley was named MVP with both Maddy O'Donnell and Sarah Baugh making the team.

"This was a good weekend for our team as everyone came together and played as a group," said Garus. "I am pleased with the title and happy for Sierra (Nobley), Maddy (O'Donnell) and Sarah (Baugh) for making the all-tournament team, they worked hard and deserve the honor. We need to keep building on our success and work on some areas that need improvement as we prepare for conference play in a couple weeks."

It was all Boise State against Abilene Christian as the Broncos dominated from the start. Freshman Reece Carman led the Broncos with a season-high 11 kills while hitting 42.1 percent. She added two digs and one block against the Wildcats.

Sabryn Roberts hit 50 percent on her way to eight kills. Sierra Nobley matched Roberts' kill total and added two blocks in the contest. Maddy O'Donnell followed with seven kills while hitting 54.5 percent to go with two blocks. Kaitlyn Oliver hit 75 percent to get her six kills, she also added a team-high three blocks.

Sarah Baugh distributed 38 assists to go with two kills, one service ace, seven digs and two blocks. Hannah Hubbard recorded a team-high 11 digs on the defensive side, followed by Maddi Osburn with 10.

The Broncos finished the match hitting 35.7 percent for 47 kills on 40 assists. They also had five service aces, 42 digs and six blocks.

ACU finished with 26 kills -- a season-low for a Bronco opponent -- 24 assists, three service aces, 32 digs and five blocks. Lauren Walker and Jenifer Loerch led the Wildcats with seven kills apiece.
