LOGAN, Utah - The Broncos (12-5-3, 7-2-2 MW) secured the school record for regular season wins (12) with a 2-1 result at Utah State (9-7-3, 4-5-2 MW) Friday evening in Logan, Utah. The seven victories in conference play is also good for a school record, and guarantees Boise State at least the No. 3 seed in next week's Mountain West Tournament. The Blue and Orange will need San Diego State and New Mexico (7:30 p.m. (MT)) to tie this evening to earn the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye.

"We have four pillars of our program, and we haven't really got to seriously talk about one until today - and that one is legacy," head coach Jim Thomas said on the team's school records after the game. "This team has been all about wanting to leave a legacy, and they did that today."

Raimee Sherle scored in the 16th minute to tie the game after Utah State scored in the 15th, and McKenna Kynett found the eventual game winner in the 41st.

Sherle's 12 goals and 28 points in conference play both are Mountain West records for an individual in a conference season. Her goal today also brings her overall season total to 16 - putting her in a tie for fifth place for individual goals in an entire season in the league record book.

She now trails the conference individual single-season goal record by two (Sara Reading (BYU/2000) - 18), and the school record by one (Shannon Saxton (2007) - 17).

"When you have years like this, you got to enjoy it while it's happening," Thomas said on Sherle's season. "So many people forget that it's fun to play well and it's really fun to have success, but I promise you that she is enjoying these moments right now."

With Utah State playing for its postseason life Friday in needing a tie or a win to qualify for the conference tournament, the Aggies naturally came out and set the tone early on in the first half.

Ashley Cardozo made it a 1-0 game when she ripped off a near-perfect shot that just snuck past Janelle Flores and a full extension dive. The attempt to make the save unfortunately forced Flores to leave the game with an injury, bringing Tara Fisher off the bench.

Fisher went on to make five saves and held the Aggies scoreless in a final 75 minutes that was nothing short heroic.

Sherle's goal came on a counter attack thanks to a booming pass from Sarah Taylor that led the sophomore all the way to the front of the goal where she calmly tucked away the equalizer and made it a 1-1 game.

That play began to shift the momentum back in the Broncos' favor, and it was Kynett who officially secured control of the game for Boise State with a header in the 41st. Madi Campbell came crashing into the attacking third late in a sequence and put the ball in the vicinity of Kynett where she connected to put the Broncos up for good, 2-1.

The Blue and Orange went on to limit the Aggies to just four shots in the second half. Utah State had a pair of decent chances, but Jessie Vogel made a nice kick save in front of the net in the 49th while Fisher cut down the angle on a shot and made another save in the 79th to secure the 2-1 result.

Boise State will now await the result of tonight's San Diego State/New Mexico match to find out their seeding in the Mountain West Tournament (Oct. 31 - Nov. 4). Stay tuned tomorrow for the official word.
