BOISE, Idaho - Boise State volleyball fell in three 25-23, 25-20, 25-20 to San Jose State Saturday afternoon in Bronco Gym. Boise State started slow and never really got going as San Jose State led most of the way throughout the match. The loss drops Boise State to 14-9 and 6-6 in Mountain West play.

"I was a little disappointed with the team's energy to start the match," said Boise State head coach Shawn Garus. "We struggled to get any momentum going and were a step slow all day. Credit San Jose State, they played hard and answered every rally we attempted. We need to learn from this loss and work hard in practice as we prepare for a tough road trip next week."

Sabryn Roberts led the Broncos with nine kills, two assists, seven digs and one block for 9.5 points. Jessica Donahue added seven kills and team-high six blocks for 10 points.

Senior Morgan Hughes tallied six kills, one service ace, six digs and team-second-best four blocks to finish with nine points. Shae Duffy matched Hughes' kill total of six while hitting 28.6 percent to go with two digs and three blocks.

Carly Moreno added two kills, three assists, one ace, eight digs and three blocks. Cassedi Simon had a team-high 21 assists from the setter position, as well as two kills, one service ace, six digs and three blocks. Jessie Brigham led the team in digs with 11 along with four assists.

Boise State finished the match hitting 12.3 percent for 33 kills on 31 assists, three service aces, 41 digs and 10 blocks. San Jose State countered by hitting 25 percent for 44 kills on 43 assists to go with four service aces, 43 digs and nine blocks.

The Broncos will be on the road this coming week when they travel to Fresno State and San Diego State, respectively.
