Broncos Can't Overcome Hot Shooting by Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Boise State women's basketball team was unable to overcome a potent Washington State offense, losing to the Cougars (4-4), 95-71, Saturday in Beasley Coliseum. The Cougars shot 56.5-percent (13-23) from beyond the arc.
Trailing by 15 at the end of the first quarter, the Broncos (5-2) rallied back with a strong opening to the second quarter. Boise State scored on their first two possessions, before Sofía Galeron broke free for a wide open three on the left side. Galeron's three pulled the Broncos within nine with 8:22 remaining in the second quarter.
The comeback would be short-lived however, as Washington State broke off on a 20-0 run to take a 53-24 lead, capitalizing on an over six-minute scoring drought by the Broncos. Ellie Woerner made one of her two free throws at the line, but the damage was already done with Boise State going into the locker room trailing, 56-29.
True freshman Jade Loville was a bright spot for the Broncos, scoring all 18 of her points in the second half. The 18 points is a career-high for Loville. She was joined in double-digit scoring by Riley Lupfer (12) and Jayde Christopher (11).
This was Lupfer's fifth-straight game scoring in double digits.
Boise State will return to action next Friday, Dec. 7, at home against Eastern Washington. The Broncos and Eagles will tip off at 7 p.m. MT at Taco Bell Arena.
