Game Notes

THE GAME: Boise State (4-5) will return to Matthew Knight Arena for the third-straight season and take on Oregon (6-3) in Eugene, Ore., Saturday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. PT. The game will be the first of a new three-game series between the Ducks and Broncos, as the two teams will face each other again this season at Taco Bell Arena (Saturday, Dec. 29) and play the third game next season back in Eugene.

WATCH: The game will broadcast on the Pac-12 Network with Rich Burke (play-by-play) and Dan Dickau (analyst) on the call.

RADIO: Bob Behler will handle play-by-play duties while Abe Jackson will provide commentary. The game will air on 670 AM KBOI or on the TuneIn app.

LAST TIME OUT: Boise State outscored Alabama State 42-27 in the second half for the 67-57 victory Wednesday night at Taco Bell Arena.

The Broncos opened the half on a 23-4 run, taking the 48-34 lead with 11:28 left in the game. Boise State jumped right on the Hornets at the beginning of the second, speeding out to a 36-32 lead at the first media timeout of the half (15:40) and never looked back.

Justinian Jessup was the top scorer for the Broncos with 16 points. Alex Hobbs scored a season-high 15 points while RJ Williams (12 points) and Zach Haney (11 points) also reached double figures.

ABOUT OREGON: The Ducks are 6-3 and uber talented with the nation's No. 4 recruiting class from 2018, headlined by Bol Bol, who is leading UO in scoring (21.0 ppg), rebounding (9.6 rpg) and blocks (2.7 bpg). The Ducks are also bolstered by All-Pac-12 second teamer Payton Pritchard and Pac-12 all-defensive team honoree Kenny Wooten.

THE HALF-COURT HEAVE: Boise State was able to pick up a season-defining win last time they faced Oregon at Matthew Knight Arena. Last season on Dec. 1, 2017, Lexus Williams received the inbounds pass with 3.1 seconds to play after Oregon's Payton Pritchard tied the game with a layup at 70-70.

Williams took a few dribbles and got to mid-court, releasing a shot that beat the buzzer and went in as time expired to give Boise State the 73-70 victory. Oregon entered the game with a 46-game home winning streak, which was the longest such winning streak in the country at the time.

RARITY OF IT: The Broncos' win at Matthew Knight Arena last season was not only thrilling because of the manner in which it happened, but at the time it was just the third nonconference loss for the Ducks since the new arena opened in 2011. Oregon is now 64-4 in nonconference home games at Matthew Knight Arena.

TIED AFTER THREE GAMES: Last year's 73-70 Bronco victory in Eugene marked the end of a three-game series that lasted from 2015-17. The cumulative score after those three games? 210-210.

Boise State won the first matchup (Dec. 12, 2015) at Taco Bell Arena, 74-72, and dropped the second at Matthew Knight Arena (Nov. 28, 2016), 68-63, before winning the rubber match last season.

UO leads the all-time series 6-2.

TWICE IN THE SAME SEASON: The two games against the Ducks represents a unique, but not unprecedented opportunity for Boise State when it comes to facing a Pac-12 foe twice in the same season. The 2015-16 season saw Boise State face Arizona twice, as the first game against the Wildcats was a non-bracketed game part of the 2015 DirecTV Wooden Legacy while the latter matchup was the third-place game in the tournament a couple weeks later.

LIKE COMPANY: The two teams are linked together with their success over recent years, as Oregon and Boise State are just two of 21 programs across the country to win 20 games in each of the last six seasons.

BIG, UNANSWERED RUNS: Boise State has gone on a couple of prolonged, unanswered scoring runs this season to produce victories – one of which came in the second half against Alabama State, Wednesday. After the Hornets scored the first basket of the second half to take a 32-25 lead, the Broncos ripped off a 17-0 run to take the 42-32 lead at the 13:59 mark, prompting a timeout from Alabama State. The Broncos never looked back and led by as many 15 later in the game.

That run was not the longest unanswered run of the season for the Broncos, however, as they were able to string together an 18-0 run against Jackson State (Nov. 16) beginning in the first and ending in the second half, ultimately propelling Boise State to the 70-53 win.

SCORING BY COMMITTEE: Boise State had four players score in double figures against Alabama State, marking the second-straight game the team had four players finish with double-digit points. While RJ Williams has been the top scorer in five of nine games, Justinian Jessup, Derrick Alston and Pat Dembley have all taken turns as the team's leading scorer in the other four.

JESSUP BREAKS INTO TOP-10 LIST: Jessup knocked down four 3-pointers against Alabama State, giving the junior 164 career 3-pointers – putting him 10th in Boise State career history. He passed Roberto Bergersen (163) and Chris Childs (163) who entered the night tied for 10th.

BE EFFICIENT AND LIMIT THE OPPOSITION: Boise State is currently third in the Mountain West in field goal percentage, shooting 48.1 percent from the field so far this season. The Broncos have valued and finished possessions equally on the other end, as well, as they have held opponents to under 40 percent shooting in three games this season. The Blue and Orange are 57-6 when holding the opposition to under 40 percent shooting in head coach Leon Rice's nine years at Boise State.
