BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State football team will make its 17th-straight bowl appearance, squaring off against Boston College in the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl, Dec. 26. The Broncos (10-3) and Eagles (7-5) are slated to kick at 11:30 a.m. (MT) at Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas, and the game will be nationally televised by ESPN. Boise State's bowl streak is tied for the fifth-longest in the country.

THE RANKINGS: Boise State concluded the regular season ranked Nos. 23 and 24 in the Associated Press and Coaches Polls, respectively, and No. 25 in the College Football Playoff Rankings.

THE SERIES: Boise State and Boston College have met just once previously – also in a bowl game. The Eagles defeated the Broncos in the 2005 MPC Computers Bowl (27-21), held at what was then known as Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho. The current bowl is now known as the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, held at what is now known as Albertsons Stadium.

VS. THE ACC: The Broncos are 2-2 all-time against the ACC, but, interestingly enough, 2-0 when playing away from their home stadium. Boise State defeated Virginia Tech (33-30; Sept. 6, 2010) at FedEx Field in Landover, Md., and Virginia (56-14; Sept. 25, 2015) in Charlottesville, Va. The two losses came to Boston College in the 2005 MPC Computers Bowl, held in Boise, and at home to Virginia (42-23; Sept. 22, 2017).

BOWL QUICK HITTERS: Dallas will be the furthest east Boise State has traveled for a bowl game since the 2004 Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn. This is the second time the Broncos have played a bowl game in Texas. Boise State won the PlainsCapital Fort Worth Bowl in 2003, defeating TCU, 34-31. Boise State is 9-3 in bowl games when nationally ranked.

BOWL REMATCH: The SERVRPRO First Responder Bowl matchup with Boston College marks the third time in program history that Boise State will face a program in bowl action for the second time. The Broncos also faced the Eagles in the 2005 MPC Computers Bowl, where Boston College came out on top, 27-21. The other teams Boise State has faced at least twice during bowl season are Louisville (1999 Crucial.com Humanitarian Bowl, 2004 Liberty Bowl) and TCU (2003 Fort Worth Bowl, 2008 Poinsettia Bowl, 2010 Fiesta Bowl). The Broncos are 1-1 against the Cardinals and 2-1 against TCU in those bowls.

AGAINST THE AUTONOMOUS FIVE: With the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl matchup against Boston College, Boise State has a chance to extend its streak of seasons with a victory over an Autonomous Five program to five.

The Broncos are 0-1 against Autonomous Five opponents this season after a 44-21 loss at Oklahoma State, Sept. 15. A loss to Boston College would make for Boise State's first season since 2013 without a victory over an Autonomous Five program.

The Broncos are 15-9 against such schools since the start of the 2006 season, and have won six of the past 10 against such opposition. Boise State has also won 15 games against Autonomous Five programs since 2003, third-best among all Group of Five teams over that span. It should be noted that eight of nine Boise State losses to Autonomous Five schools since 2006 have come on the road or at a neutral site, with the loss against Virginia in 2017 being the only one at Albertsons Stadium. Since notching its first victory over a Power Five school, a 34-16 win over Iowa State in the 2002 Humanitarian Bowl, Boise State is 16-13 all-time in games against Autonomous Five teams, and 16-25 overall.
