Hill Wins 1650 Free at CSCAA Invite

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Boise State freshman Hayley Hill swam a career-best 16:29.26 in the 1,650-yard freestyle to win the race and set the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Invitational record Saturday night at Annapolis, Md., to pace the Broncos on the final day of the championship. Boise State saw all six Broncos participating at the event advance to the finals on Saturday recording four top-eight finishes.

Boise State finished the three-day CSCAA National Invitational with 267 points to place sixth overall out of 49 schools competing. Florida International won the team title with 598.5 points followed by Rice (483) in second, Denver (428) in third, South Carolina (394) was fourth, San Jose State (325) fifth and the Broncos sixth.

In addition to Hill's championship finish in the 1,650 free, three other Broncos recorded top-eight results on Saturday. Freshman Molly Hogg reached Saturday night's 200-yard backstroke final where she placed seventh overall after swimming a 1:59.83.
Junior Cody Evans turned in a 50.18 to place seventh in the 100 freestyle, while Emmie Jennings placed 12th clocking a 50.56 and Ally Kleinsorgen 16th after swimming a 50.81.
Senior Emily Mathis placed eighth in the 200-yard breaststroke following a 2:16.16 in the final on Saturday.
The CSCAA National Invitational closed out with the 400 freestyle relay race where the Broncos' Evans, Kleinsorgen, Hogg and Jennings combined to swim a 3:21.40 to take fifth out of 25 teams.
This concludes the 2017-18 campaign for Boise State swimming and diving.
