Broncos Add Benjamin and Gryboski

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State head swimming and diving coach Christine Mabile announced today the addition of two new recruits Haley Benjamin (Durango, Colo.) and Lauren Gryboski (Colorado Springs, Colo.). The addition of these two recruits brings Boise State's incoming class up to nine.

Benjamin is transferring to Boise State from the University of Houston where she spent the last two seasons competing for the Cougars. Benjamin is a freestyle and individual medley specialist. She competed in nine meets during the 2019-20 season recording five top-three finishes. As a sophomore this past season, she posted a season-best 1:53.19 in the 200 free during time trials at the American Athletic Conference Championships; clocked a lifetime best 24.85 in the 50 free at the LSU/Rice tri-meet; as well as, posted four season-best at the Phil Hansel Invitational. Her personal-best times in the 500 free is 4:47.93, the 1,000 free is a 10:01.48 and 16:33.84 in the 1,650 free. Benjamin's top time in the 400-yard IM is 4:16.36.

"We're excited to add Haley to the team this fall!" said coach Mabile. "She has the work ethic of a Bronco and comes in as our top 400 IMer."

Gryboski signed a National Letter of Intent and will be a true freshman for the Broncos this coming fall. The former gymnast started diving in 2018 and competes for the Colorado Springers Diving Club. The senior at Coronado High School was named the 2020 Colorado High School Activities Association Diver of the Year and was a state finalist in both 2019 and 2020. Gryboski's top scores as a junior diver are 390.10 on the 1-meter springboard, 470 on the 3-meter springboard and 293.35 on the platform, all were 10 dive competitions. She has won three junior competitions on the 3-meter and one on the 1-meter.

"We are extremely excited to have Lauren join us next season," said diving coach Brandon Blaisdell. "Lauren really stood out in the recruiting process as someone who is eager to learn and shows a lot of passion towards everything that she does. In just a very short time in this sport she has excelled in all of her events. I believe Lauren is just starting to scratch the surface of her abilities and will immediately make an impact on our team."
