
Broncos Fall to Aztecs in Game One

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - A two-run bottom of the sixth inning led to a 3-1 loss to San Diego State (10-21, 1-3 MW) in the opening game of the series for Boise State (21-11, 4-3 MW), Thursday at SDSU Softball Stadium. Both teams combined for 19 runners left on bases and eight errors.
With the score tied 1-1 to start the bottom of the sixth, San Diego State led off with a single to right field, advancing to third on a fielding error. The Aztecs were able to score on a single and walk with the bases loaded to take a 3-1 lead entering the final frame.
In the top of the seventh, Madison Anthony singled but was out at second on a fielder's choice on the following at-bat. With Kora Wade on first, Rebekah Cervantes sent a deep shot to center field, but her potentially game-tying home run was caught at the wall for the second out.
Halle Harger popped up to the catcher on the next at-bat to end the game.
Boise State scored their lone run of the game on a single up the middle by Wade, scoring Ashlyn Adams from second.
Both Wade and Anthony led the team at the plate, going 2-for-4, while Wade had an RBI.
The series will continue tomorrow at 7 p.m. MT.
