FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Boise State women's golf team is currently in first place at the conclusion of the first round of the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, Monday at the Ptarmigan Country Club.

The Broncos (+5) have a three-stroke lead over Nevada (+8) on the team leaderboard after shooting 293 on the day. The 293 is the lowest round shot by the program since the team fired a 291 in back-to-back rounds at the BYU at Entrada Classic (March 16-17, 2015).

All four of Boise State's scorers shot in the 70s on the first day of the tournament. The Broncos also lead the field in par-4 scoring average (4.10), and are tied for the lead with 15 birdies.

"I'm really proud of how the team was able to grind today – they never gave up," head coach Nicole Bird said. "We had some trouble holes in the beginning of the round, but we settled down and had a lot of birdies. They trusted the process today and their results speak for themselves. We are obviously in a good spot going into tomorrow, but we want to do even better. We know our entire team can shoot under par on this course and we want to do it!"

Senior Tara Finigan continued the impressive start to her Boise State career, as she leads the individual leaderboard through one round. Finigan shot 4-under 68 on the day – surpassing her mark from last week – to hold a one-stroke lead over UC Irvine's Janet Yeo. Finigan made five birdies in the first round.

Teammate Alejandra Lobelo joined Finigan in the top 10, as she currently sits at T-6th. Lobelo shot even (72) on the day, making five birdies. Lobelo was followed by fellow sophomore, Nicole Suppelsa, as she shot 76 (+4) in the first round.

Lexi Perry – who made an eagle on the second hole – rounds out the scoring for the Broncos at 77 (+5), while Valentine Lacaze (83, +11) concludes the lineup.

The tournament will continue with tomorrow's second round, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. MT. Boise State will be paired with Nevada and San Francisco on the second day of the three-day tournament.
