BOISE, Idaho – Boise State redshirt junior Leia Chung qualified for the NCAA Regional Championship as an individual, the NCAA announced during its official selection show. She will compete in the Stanford Region, hosted May 11-13 at Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, California.
Chung earned an automatic berth to the postseason with her individual title at the Mountain West Championship, where she fired a 5-under 211, the lowest conference championship score in program history. She is the first Bronco to win a conference crown since Shawna Seiber captured the Big Sky title in 1993. Chung's second-round score of 68 (-4) is also the lowest conference championship round in school history. This was her third victory of the year, setting a single-season program record.
A native of Wahiawa, Hawai'i, Chung is the third player in program history to qualify for an NCAA Regional Championship. Acey Erlandson tied for 116th with a 241 (+25) at the 2000 NCAA West Regional Championship, hosted in Tempe, Arizona. Genvieve Ling carded a 236 (+20) to tie for 79th at the 2015 NCAA East Regional Championship, played in Raleigh, North Carolina.
