WHAT IS HAPPENING THIS WEEK
- Boise State (5-0) continues three-straight weeks on the road as the Broncos take their undefeated win streak to Santa Clara, Calif., Thursday and Friday to face Santa Clara and UC Davis, respectively.
- Boise State opens up with its host Santa Clara in the battle of the Broncos at 7 p.m. (MT) on Thursday in the Leavey Center. SCU leads the series 4-3, but Boise State has won two straight in 2016 and 2017.Â
- The Santa Clara Invitational wraps up for Boise State on Friday at 6 p.m. (MT) against the UC Davis Aggies. UCD leads the series 3-2 including a 3-2 win at Davis last fall.Â

BOISE STATE WINS IDAHO STATE INVITATIONAL
- Boise State rolled to the Idaho State Invitational title, its second championship in two weeks, with victories over Milwaukee (3-2), UC Riverside (3-0) and Idaho State (3-1) as the Broncos remained undefeated on the year at 5-0, the longest win streak to open a season since 2004's squad also went 5-0.
- Senior Sabryn Roberts led the Broncos with two double-doubles, she also led the team in kills and scoring during all three contests ... Roberts recorded 52 kills, 35 digs and 12 blocks on the weekend.Â
- Freshman Jessica Donahue continues to impress early in the season tallying a combined 30 kills and team-high 20 blocks, she now has 36 blocks in five matches.Â
- Sophomore Kiley Lewis added 33 kills and 10 blocks, followed by senior transfer Morgan Hughes who added 23 kills, team-high 10 service aces, 22 digs and 18 blocks.
- Three Broncos were named to the Idaho State Invitational All-Tournament Team led by Donahue as MVP, she was joined by Roberts and Janell Walley.Â
- COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (9/3/2018) - Boise State freshman Jessica Donahue was named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Broncos to a 3-0 mark and the Idaho State Invitational championship. This is the first such honor for Donahue in her career and the first for Boise State this season.Â
- Donahue was a force at the net for the Broncos in all three victories last weekend over Milwaukee (3-2), UC Riverside (3-0) and Idaho State (3-1) recording six or more blocks in each match.Â
- On the week she tallied 20 blocks for a 1.67 per set average.Â
- In addition to her defensive performance, Donahue also had a team-third-best 30 kills (2.5 kps) while hitting a team-high 33.9 percent on the weekend.Â
SEASON STORY LINES
HEAD COACH SHAWN GARUS- Coach Garus is a two-time MW Coach of the Year (2015 and 2016), as well as the 2016 AVCA Region Coach of the Year.
- Garus is 273-240 overall in his 18th year as a collegiate head coach.Â
- Garus is currently 165-121 at Boise State in his 10th season.
- Garus ranks second in total wins in program history, out of 10 coaches all-time.Â
- Garus has recorded seven winning seasons, three (2010, 2015-16) with 20-plus wins, in his first nine seasons at Boise State.
- Leaders: Sabryn Roberts leads Boise State with 85 kills (4.05 kps) ... Jessica Donahue adds 52 kills (2.48 kps) and team-high 36 blocks (1.71 bps) ... Kiley Lewis has 49 kills (2.33 kps).
- Team: As a team the Broncos are hitting 19.2 percent while holding opponents to 13.1 percent (1st MW) ... they average 12.67 kills, 11.71 assists, 2.05 aces, 14.95 digs and 3.14 blocks per set.Â
- Senior outside hitter Sabryn Roberts needs 26 kills this week to reach 1,000 career kills.
- When she does, Roberts will become the 15th member of the 1,000 career kills club.
- Sabryn Roberts has led the team in kills during all five contests to date reaching double-digits each time and 20-plus in two matches, Portland State (20) and Milwaukee (21).
- True freshman Jessica Donahue has made a huge impact for the Broncos at the net recording a team-high 36 blocks to date.
- She leads the MW and is ranked 11th nationally for total blocks ... also leads the MW and is ranked eighth nationally in blocks per set at 1.71.
- In her first collegiate match versus Long Beach State, Donahue set the Boise State freshman record for blocks in a match with 10.
- Her 10 blocks against Long Beach State is ranked tied for seventh in program history.

SANTA CLARA MATCH PREVIEW
- The battle of the Broncos at the Leavey Center in Santa Clara, Calif., will be the eight meeting all-time between Boise State and Santa Clara. Â
- SCU leads the all-time series 4-3, but Boise State has won the last two encounters 3-1 in 2016 at Boise and 3-0 last year at Davis, Calif. Â
- Santa Clara is 4-3 on the year and is coming off a 2-1 weekend at Lincoln, Neb., where the Broncos defeated Wake Forest (3-1) and Ohio (3-0) before falling 3-1 to defending national champion Nebraska.
- Santa Clara is hitting 20.2 percent on the year and holding opponents to 21 percent ... they are led by Michelle Shaffer with 69 kills, while Michelle Gajdka has 62.
- The Santa Clara Broncos are members of the West Coast Conference where they are picked to place sixth out of 10 teams in 2018.
- The Boise State versus UC Davis match at Santa Clara has been bumped up an hour starting at 6 p.m. (Mountain) rather than 7 p.m. as originally scheduled.Â
- Friday's contest will be the sixth meeting all-time between the two programs with the teams splitting the last two years ... Boise State won 3-1 at Boise in 2016, while UCD won 3-2 last year in Davis, Calif.
- The Aggies enter the tournament at 5-2 overall and are coming off a 3-1 victory on Tuesday over Sacramento State ... prior to that they went 1-1 in Portland, Ore., losing to Oregon State (3-1) before beating Portland State (3-0).
- Emily Allen leads the Aggies with 105 kills (4.38 kps), followed by Lauren Matias with 79 ... as a team they hit 23.7 percent and hold opponents to 17 percent.Â
- UCD is a member of the Big West Conference where it is picked to place sixth out of nine schools. Â Â
