Cold Shooting Dooms Broncos Against Air Force

USAFA, Colo. - Boise State (8-11, 3-3) couldn't overcome another cold shooting night, as Air Force (8-11, 3-4) was able to make enough plays to claim the 74-60 win Tuesday night at Clune Arena.
Derrick Alston was the game's high scorer with 24 points on 7-of-13 shooting. The 24 points was the second-highest scoring game of his career. Lavelle Scottie led the Falcons with 22 points and seven rebounds.
Boise State played extremely well for the majority of the first half, taking the 30-17 lead at the 4:03 mark for its largest lead of the game (13 points). Air Force responded, however, and went on a 16-3 run to close the half to make it a 33-33 game at the break.
The Falcons held a slim lead for the better part of the second half, but the Broncos battled and eventually made it a one-point game at 53-52 with 7:06 remaining. Eventually, the defining point of the game came with 4:20 remaining when Air Force was awarded four-straight free throws after Zach Haney was called for a flagrant foul from a few plays back. The Falcons made 3-of-4 in the sequence and capped it off with a 3-pointer to make it a 63-55 AFA lead.
Haney also finished in double figures with 11 points to go with a team-high six rebounds and three blocks.
Boise State will return home this weekend and take on Wyoming, Saturday, Jan. 26 at Taco Bell Arena in what will be a 2 p.m. tip. The game will stream exclusively on Stadium's Facebook page.
