Bronco Doubles Impress in Cougar Classic Day One

The Boise State women's tennis team earned three doubles wins in the first day of action from Pullman, Wash.
PULLMAN, Wash. – Emily Strande and Ana Conde Vendrell earned two doubles wins to advance to the semfinal round of the Gray flight doubles on the first day of play at the Washington State Cougar Classic on Friday.
Strande and Conde Vendrell began their day by defeating Seattle's Martina Asciuto and Jillian Rasmussen 6-1, followed by a tie-breaker victory over JJ Chen and Mirte Van Baelen 7-6(5) to move onto the semifinals.
Camryn Moortgat and Vanessa Timm also won their opening doubles match in the Crimson flight against Daphne Haverkamp and Enni Zander from Montana State, winning by a score of 6-3. However, Utah State's Annaliese County and Lucy Octave bounced the Bronco duo in the next round by a score of 6-3.
In singles play, Strande put on an impressive performance by taking down Eastern Washington's Rylee Braeden 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the quarterfinal round of the Crimson bracket.
Frankie Trella is also moving on to the quarterfinal round after she took a 6-3, 6-3 win over Haverkamp to move on in the Cougar flight.
Action will resume tomorrow from Pullman, Wash., with Conde Vendrell and Strande taking the court at 11 a.m. mountain time.
