ABOUT THE ANTEATERS: UC Irvine (2-1) returns four starters from last season's 31-win team, which claimed the Big West regular-season and tournament championships before advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. This season, four Anteaters are scoring in double figures and the team is outrebounding opponents by 14.7 boards per game.
SERIES HISTORY: Friday marks the 13th all-time meeting between Boise State and UC Irvine on the hardwood, with the series tied 6-6. The Broncos won the last matchup, Nov. 26, 2015, in the first round of the Wooden Legacy behind 11 three-pointers. It was the first time the teams met since 2001, when the programs were conference foes in the Big West, which was also the last time the Broncos hosted the Anteaters. Boise State is 4-1 in home games against UC Irvine.
SIGNING DAY RECAP: Boise State men's basketball signed three prep standouts to National Letters of Intent Wednesday. Head coach Leon Rice and the Broncos welcome Kasean Pryor (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Burke Smith (Glen Allen, Va.) and Jace Whiting (Burley, Idaho). Pryor and Smith will join the team as freshmen next season. Whiting is expected to serve a two-year church mission before enrolling in the fall of 2022.
ALSTON'S BIG NIGHT: Redshirt junior Derrick Alston, Jr. scored 28 points at No. 15 Oregon Saturday, the most points by a Bronco against a ranked team since Derrick Marks poured in 35 in a Boise State win at No. 11 Creighton, Nov. 28, 2012.
