BOISE, Idaho -Â Boise State will look to stem a two-game slide Tuesday night as it hosts Utah Valley at 7 p.m. at ExtraMile Arena.
This weekend, the Broncos hit the road once again, heading to TCU for the Maggie Dixon Classic Sunday at 4 p.m. MT.
LAST TIME OUT
Boise State fell for the second-straight game, dropping a 98-82 decision at No. 8/9 Louisville Sunday.
Despite shooting 61.4 percent from the field, the fifth-highest single-game figure in program history, the Broncos could not overcome 20 turnovers, as Louisville, for its part, shot 54.3 percent.
Point guard Jayde Christopher posted a double-double of 10 points and a career-high 14 assists, matching Marta Hermida's single-game program record set Jan. 24, 2018 at San Jose State.
Braydey Hodgins and Rachel Bowers co-led the Broncos with 16 points apiece in the loss.
WHO'S NEXT
Utah Valley (0-4) comes into ExtraMile Arena Tuesday night looking for its first victory of the season.
The Wolverines are coming off of a 67-53 loss at UC Riverside last Thursday, and are led by Alexis Cortez (11.3 ppg, 4.5 rpg) and Eve Braslis (10.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg).
SERIES HISTORY
Boise State leads the all-time series with Utah Valley, 8-4, although the Wolverines have captured each of the last two meetings, most recently a 72-70 decision on Nov. 19, 2015, in Boise.
STEM THE TIDE
With Sunday's loss at No. 8/9 Louisville, Boise State has dropped two in a row for the first time since losses at New Mexico (100-83) and against Wyoming (66-51) on Jan. 3 and 6, 2018.
Picking up a win over Utah Valley Tuesday night would get the Broncos back on the winning side of things, and avoid the team's first three-game slide since a four-game losing streak from Feb. 10-24, 2016.
CHRISTOPHER MATCHES ASSISTS MARK
Redshirt senior point guard Jayde Christopher not only recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 assists Sunday at No. 8/9 Louisville, she also matched a Boise State single-game record.
Christopher's career-best 14 assists equaled Marta Hermida's mark set Jan. 24, 2018, in a 112-80 win at San Jose State.
HOT SHOOTING IN A LOSS
It's not often that a team will shoot over 60 percent and still be on the losing end of things, but that rarity happened to the Broncos Sunday at No. 8/9 Louisville.
Boise State shot 61.4 percent from the field, the fifth-highest single-game mark in program history. That figure is the Broncos' highest shooting percentage in a loss, eclipsing the mark of 58.7 percent in a 66-65 loss at Washington State on Dec. 8, 1994.
BOWERS OFF THE BENCH
Sophomore center Rachel Bowers has quietly had herself a fine start to the campaign, averaging 9.5 points on 67.5-percent shooting over 19,5 minutes a game off the bench.
Sunday at No. 8/9 Louisville, Bowers showed little fear against the Cardinals, going 8-for-11 from the field for a team co-leading 16 points. It was her third double-figure scoring performance this season.
FEARLESS DRIVING
Senior guard Braydey Hodgins continued her rebound Sunday from a cold start to this season, posting her fourth-straight game scoring in double figures as she finished with 16 on 7-for-10 shooting at No. 8/9 Louisville.
Hodgins started the season just 6-for-22 from the field through the first three games, averaging 6.7 points, but has heated up over the last three. Over that span the Pasco, Wash., native has averaged 18.3 points while shooting 54.5 percent (18-for-33) from the field and 80.0 percent (16-for-20) from the line.
COLEMAN'S BEST OUTING TO DATE
Another Bronco who showed signs of overcoming a slow start to the campaign Sunday at No. 8/9 Louisville was redshirt senior forward A'Shanti Coleman, who finished with a season-high 15 points on 7-for-9 shooting.
Over the last four games, Coleman was shooting just 25.7 percent (9-for-35) and averaging just 6.5 points per game. But, her performance against Louisville provided optimism that the San Francisco native is turning it around and finding her groove.
