Ducks Come Out on Top

EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon made shot 68.4 percent from three-point range and handed Boise State a 106-75 loss Saturday, at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore. The 15th-ranked Ducks (2-0) made 13 three-pointers and held the Broncos (1-1) to 6-of-23 shooting from beyond the arc.
Derrick Alston led Boise State with 28 points. Alston has scored at least 25 points in each of the first two games of the season.
Alex Hobbs added 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Fellow senior Justinian Jessup scored 10 points and tied for the team high with eight rebounds.
Hobbs scored four consecutive points to get the Broncos within five at 22-17 with just over eight minutes to play in the first half, but the Ducks answered with a nine-point barrage in 44 seconds. Another 9-0 spurt minutes later put Oregon ahead 44-26 with 70 seconds left before halftime. Boise State would not get closer than 15 the rest of the way.
Both of Oregon's pivotal first-half runs were punctuated by Anthony Mathis three-pointers. Mathis finished the game with 30 points, including 9-of-12 shooting from three-point range.
Boise State returns to action Friday, Nov. 15, at home against UC Irvine. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT at ExtraMile Arena.
