Boise State women's tennis team defeated South Dakota 7-0 in their first match in Boise in over a month.

BOISE, Idaho (2/22/19) – In its first home match in nearly a month, the Boise State women's tennis team defeated South Dakota 7-0 Friday night.

"It was amazing to be back in Boise," said junior Wiktoria Nosek. "It's nice to play here and see the people that are always coming out to watch. I love it."

The Broncos opened the match with dominant performances in doubles play as freshman Emily Strande and Nosek started things off with a 6-1 victory at the No. 3 slot. On court one, Wilhelmina Palmer and Lilian Poling continue to lead the way for the Broncos as they earned the 6-2 win to clinch the doubles point and give their team the early 1-0 advantage.

Boise State carried over the dominance into the singles matches as Nosek won in impressive fashion 6-2, 6-2 over South Dakota's Emma Tranberg to give her team the 2-0 lead.

"The first set was really tough," Nosek said, "but I managed to find a way. The things we have been working on for the past year have really started to click. It's an amazing feeling and I think the score shows that."

Freshman Sydnie Binder continues to impress as she cruised to a 6-4, 6-0 win over Laura Janickova to give her team the 3-0 advantage and the chance to clinch the match.

On court four, sophomore Vanessa Timm grinded out a tough three-set victory over Luana Stanciu 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to clinch the match and end a three-game losing streak for the Broncos.

Frankie Trella gave it her all in a 6-2, 7-5 victory on court five, and the Broncos' top two seeds, Palmer and Poling, capped off the night with a pair of three-set victories to complete the sweep of the Coyotes.

The win pushes Boise State to a 3-4 record on the season, and it will look to carry this momentum into Sunday's matchup against Pac-12 Colorado. The match will be held at Boas Indoor Tennis Center and will begin play at 11 a.m.
