BRONCOS BACK TO HOST TWO WEEKEND MATCHES

The Boise State women's tennis team is back in Boise to host two matches this weekend against South Dakota and Colorado on Friday and Sunday respectively.

Fresh off of a week without matches, the Broncos have had time to recuperate and gear up to end their current three-game slide this weekend.

South Dakota enters the weekend 1-5, but four of their five losses have come against Power 5 schools. Colorado, meanwhile, is the second of three Pac 12 opponents the Broncos will face this season and will enter the match at 5-5.

Both matches will be held at Boas Indoor Tennis Center, with the tilt against South Dakota beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the battle with Colorado beginning at 11 a.m.

WHAT'S THE SCOOP

The Broncos are in the middle of a three-game slide here in the early portion of the season. While this may not be the start the team pictured, an off week to prepare for this weekend's slate will go a long way towards rebounding with some big wins.

LAST TIME OUT

The Broncos were defeated by Pac 12 opponent Utah 2-5 on Feb. 10 in Salt Lake City. Even though the Broncos were dominant in the doubles competitions and Wilhelmina Palmer had a strong singles match, the Utes proved to be too much for the Broncos to handle.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Sophomore Wilhelmina Palmer was undefeated in her two matches last weekend against BYU and Utah. In addition to winning both of her matches at the No. 1 singles spot, she also won both of her doubles matches at the No. 1 slot for the Blue and Orange alongside her teammate Lilian Poling. Palmer has had a strong start to the season at the top for the Broncos and will look to continue to do so heading into the weekend.

HEAD COACH BECK ROGHAAR

With a career record of 101-84 and six winning seasons, Roghaar has made his mark on Boise State in his ninth season with the program. He became the second coach in program history to reach 100 wins on January 19, 2019 after a 6-1 win against Idaho State. Last season he coached the team to a 14-8 record and the Mountain West Mountain Division regular season title after going 5-0 against divisional opponents. The 2011 WAC Coach of the Year continues to build a rising Boise State program that has been built on the values of toughness and passion.

BOISE TIES

Three freshmen on the team have ties to Boise. Sydnie Binder attended Borah High School in Boise before moving to Oregon. Camryn Moortgat was born and lived in Boise before moving to Dallas, Texas, before high school. Corey Patton Lossner is the niece of former Boise State head men's tennis coach Greg Patton.

YOUTH BE SERVED

Boise State's roster consists of five freshmen this season, four of which have seen action so far this spring. Emily Strande, Frankie Trella, and Binder all have earned their first singles victories of their careers, while Patton Lossner has earned a victory in doubles play. Camryn Moortgat will be redshirting for the Broncos this season.
