Duo posts solid times in the 10,000-meter event at the Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, Calif. — The Boise State track and field team opened a full weekend of completion with solid showings from Keegan McCormick and Clare O'Brien in the 10,000-meter races, Wednesday at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

O'Brien took second in the fastest section of the women's race, finishing just off of her personal best with a time of 33:39.43. The junior took the lead from the gun and set a pace that quickly separated her and Andrea Ramirez from the rest of the field.

Ramirez took the lead with three laps remaining, but O'Brien stayed on her shoulder, never giving up more than a meter until the final lap. Her final time puts her in contention for a bid to the NCAA West Preliminary round, as it would rank her in the top 20 in the regional entering the weekend.

Making his debut in the event, Keegan McCormick ran a consistent race to finish 19th in the fastest section in 31:03.87.

A busy weekend of track and field will continue for the program on Friday. The Broncos will split to three meets: the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, the Mt. SAC Relays, and the continuation of the Bryan Clay Invitational.
