MacArthur Concludes Competition at the World Athletics U20 World Championships

EUGENE, Ore. - Addy MacArthur represented Team USA at the U20 World Championships on Thursday morning, finishing in 19th.
MacArthur, one of two Americans who competed in the women's shot put, recorded a 14.94m throw. She finished 12th in her pool and 19th overall, with the top 12 advancing to Thursday night's final.
"What an accomplishment for Addy and Coach Kelsey to finish a freshman season with a competitive go at a global championship representing our country" said Boise State Track & Field head coach Pat McCurry. "Addy represented herself extraordinarily well in her first global championship. She was poised and present as always, capping a stellar and very long freshman campaign. Now it's time for a little rest and on to her sophomore year where she will be one of the cornerstones of our program."Â
MacArthur qualified for the event with a second-place finish and personal best 15.35m throw at the U20 National Championships on June 19th. She was the first Bronco to compete at the U20 World Championships since Anita Taviore represented Nigeria in 2021 in the 4x100m relay. She was also the first Bronco to compete for Team USA since Emily Venters back in 2018 raced in the 5000m.Â
