Widen Signs Kemal Karagozoglu for 2019-20 Campaign

BOISE, Idaho - Kristian Widen, Boise State's head men's tennis coach, announced today the addition of Kemal Karagozoglu to the 2019-20 men's tennis roster. Karagozoglu — nicknamed Boom Boom — comes to Boise State from Florida where he recently graduated from the Club Med Academies in Port St. Lucie. Born in California, then raised in Turkey until the age of 11 when he moved to Florida to attend school at Club Med Academies.
"I chose Boise State because of its amazing athletic atmosphere," said Karagozoglu. "The coaches are very caring and they want me to improve and be the best that I can be on and off the court."
He was a standout doubles player in youth tennis winning the International Tennis Federation's (ITF) G4 Trinidad Trinity Cup, was a finalist at the ITF G4 Copa El Salvador 1 and quarterfinalist at the ITF G4 Evert American, all in 2018. In addition, he was a finalist at the ITF Junkanoo Bowl, Bahamas in 2017.
On the United States Tennis Association (USTA) stage he reached the doubles quarterfinals of the 2016 and 2017 Eddie Herr International Doubles  Championship. In addition, He won the Little MO Regional U12 championship in 2012 Â
While living in Turkey he competed in the 2012 Turkish National Team Invitational and won the 2012 Turkish Tennis Federation's (TTF) U12 National Cup.
