Janell Walley records a double-double to lead Boise State.

PROVO, Utah - Janell Walley led Boise State with a double-double in a hard fought match against 16th-ranked Marquette as the Broncos fell in three sets by a combined eight points 25-22, 27-25, 25-22. It was the second defeat to a nationally-ranked team for the Blue and Orange on Friday following a 3-0 loss to No. 9 BYU earlier.

"This was a really great match to be apart of with both teams playing hard and battling the whole way," said Boise State head coach Shawn Garus. "Every set was close and we competed very hard. I thought Janell (Walley), Dani (Boss) and Lauren (Ohlinger) led the team with great performances."

Walley, Lauren Ohlinger and Danielle Boss combined for 33 of the Broncos' 42 kills on the night to lead Boise State. Walley hit an impressive 44.8 percent for a team-high 15 kills to go with a team-best 12 digs to collect the double-double.

Ohlinger — a freshman — reached double-figure kills in the match tallying 11, while Boss recorded seven kills on eight attempts for a 87.5 hitting percentage. Boss — the setter — just missed a double-double finishing with a season-high 32 assists and nine digs, she also had three blocks.

All three sets went back and forth between the Broncos and Golden Eagles with Marquette holding off Boise State down the stretch in each.

Boise State hit the ball decent during the contest finishing the night at 22.8 percent, up from 9.9 percent versus BYU earlier.

The Broncos will wrap-up the BYU Nike Invitational Saturday at noon when they take on the Utah Valley Wolverines in BYU's Smith Fieldhouse.
