GAME ONE RECAP: The first game of the first Mountain West series of the season for Boise State and New Mexico was a comfortable win for the Broncos. Derrick Alston, Jr. scored a game-high 20 points, leading four Broncos in double figures. RayJ Dennis added 16 points with five assists and three steals. Boise State shot 58 percent from the floor and held New Mexico to 33.9 percent, while outscoring the Lobos 42-26 in the paint and outrebounding them by six.

SETTING THE TONE: Boise State held New Mexico to 33.9 percent shooting from the field (19-for-56). The Broncos have held four of their six opponents to less than 37 percent field goal shooting. They held four opponents to less than 37 percent all of last year, and three the previous season.

RUNAWAY BRONCOS: Boise State defeated New Mexico Monday, 77-53, in the opening game of the series. The Broncos used a 25-5 run midway through the second half to stretch its lead to 26 and coast to victory. Derrick Alston, Jr. scored nine consecutive points of his own during the spurt. Alston finished with 20 points on the night, his third 20-point outing of the season. The 24-point win is Boise State's largest margin of victory in a conference opener since the 1995-96 season, defeating Eastern Washington 73-49.

WE MEET AGAIN: Boise State and New Mexico will meet for the second time in three days as part of the Mountain West's 2020-21 scheduling format. It is the fifth time since joining Division I (1970-71) that Boise State has faced the same opponent in back-to-back regular-season games, the first time since 2001. This marks the shortest turnaround between such games in Boise State's Division I history.
