ABOUT THE COUGARS: BYU is off to a 5-1 start, including a win at Utah State, Saturday, last time out. The Cougars are led by Alex Barcello's 19.2 points and 3.3 assists per game. Barcello is shooting 62.1 percent from three-point range, making three per game. Seven-foot-three Purdue transfer Matt Haarms has started the last three games, grabbing 10 rebounds and blocking 10 shots in those games. BYU is shooting 45.8 percent from the floor as a team and averaging 78.3 points per game.

SERIES HISTORY: BYU leads the all-time series 9-5. The teams met last season for the first time in 11 years and Boise State captured a 72-68 overtime win. Derrick Alston, Jr. recorded the first double-double of his career with game highs of 26 points and 11 rebounds. Boise State is 1-6 all-time at BYU, picking up its lone road win in the series Dec. 13, 1996, in front of 20,358 fans at the BYU Cougar Classic, the second-largest crowd the Broncos have ever played in front of and the largest to witness a Boise State win.

AKOT THE LATEST ADDITION: Redshirt junior guard Emmanuel Akot made his long-awaited Boise State debut Friday, against College of Idaho. Akot, who transferred from Arizona, last played in a game on Jan. 12, 2019. Nearly 23 months later he finally took the floor, and immediately set a career high with nine points. Coming out of Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah, Akot was the No. 24 overall recruit in the country for the class of 2017, according to 247Sports, making him the highest-ranked prep prospect to play at Boise State.

CLAMPS: Boise State has forced 61 turnovers through three games, including 21 against Sam Houston State and 23 against College of Idaho in the last two games. It is the first time the Broncos have forced back-to-back opponents into at least 20 turnovers since Dec. 5 and Dec. 8, 2010. Boise State is averaging 23.3 points per game off of opponent turnovers, equal to 30.4 percent of its total scoring output.
