The Boise State women's tennis team fell to Colorado 6-0 on Saturday in Boulder.
BOULDER, Colo. – The Boise State women's tennis team was swept at the hands of Pac-12 Colorado on Saturday for the team's first loss of the season.
The Buffs came out strong in the doubles matches winning on courts two and three to clinch the point and the 1-0 lead heading into singles. The Broncos could not gain any traction in the singles matches despite tough fights from Vanessa Timm and Lilian Poling on courts four and one respectively.
Poling rallied from dropping the opening set in her match to win the second, which forced it into a decisive third set. The senior battled hard but came up short to Colorado's Monica Malinen 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
After the team victory had already been decided, Timm rallied from a set down as well. She forced her match into a third set 10-point tiebreaker after taking set two in commanding fashion 6-2. Unfortunately, the junior found herself on the wrong end of a 10-5 tiebreaker in the third to fall 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5) to the Buffaloes' Maria Campos on court four.
Freshman Holly Stewart lost a heartbreaking set one tiebreaker 11-9 on court three and could not recover, eventually falling 7-6(9), 6-3 to CU's Sophia Derivan.
Up next, the Broncos will head up the highway to Greeley for a matchup with Northern Colorado on Sunday at 3 p.m. MT.
