PALM DESERT, Calif. – A trio of Boise State men shot 1-under 71 and the Broncos are in third place heading into the final round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.

Sophomore Hugo Townsend finished his round with a birdie and is tied for second in the tournament at 5-under. Junior Skyler Eubank, the defending champion in the event, played 2-under over his final-11 holes and is tied for 16th at 2-under. Senior Mason Schulze made three birdies and 14 pars, Saturday and is tied for 30th at 1-over.

"Today we played extremely tough, especially on the back nine," Boise State assistant coach Kavan Eubank said. "The wind was blowing about 20 miles an hour and it was swirling. We had a team meeting last night and we talked about focusing on our routine and being mentally tough. I am really pleased with how our guys performed."

Senior Joe Neuheisel and sophomore Cameron Barzekoff are tied for 70th overall at 7-over.

Boise State enters Sunday trailing only No. 19 Auburn (-13) and No. 50 Charlotte (-10). The Broncos will be grouped with the Tigers, 49ers and fourth-place Denver (-2). The only other school under par through 36 holes is North Texas (-1).

Two-thirds of the field was at least 10 shots over par Saturday, including Oregon (+11) which entered the day as the tournament leader at 10-under. Fifth-ranked Colorado State was 2-under in round two and his eighth place at 5-over.
