The Boise State women's tennis team came up just short against Weber State on Sunday.
Ogden, Utah – Three Broncos earned straight-set singles victories but that was not enough as the Boise State women's tennis team came up short 4-3 against Weber State on Sunday in Ogden.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead after winning two of three doubles matches to go up 1-0 heading into singles play, but the Broncos refused to go down easily.
In singles the Broncos did their best to flip the momentum in their favor. Lilian Poling took on the Wildcats' Megan Lombardi on court one and was victorious in a 6-3, 6-3 contest. At the No. 3 slot, Holly Stewart dealt Yuuna Ukita a 6-1, 6-4 loss, and Vanessa Timm defeated Caitlin Herb 6-4, 7-5 on court four to give the Broncos a fighting chance.
However, Weber State was able to fight off the Bronco's effort by winning on courts two, five and six to ultimately steal the match away 4-3 and deal the Broncos their second loss of the season.
Next up for the Broncos (4-2) is a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 15 at home against Montana State and Linfield. The matches will be the first of a 10-match home stand for the Blue and Orange.
