BOISE, Idaho – Matthew Farman led a quartet of Boise State players who appeared in the top 35 of the D1Baseball.com's final rankings of top freshmen hitters in 2020.

Using plate discipline (how well a player controls the strike zone), hit ability (reaching base via hits) and game power (producing extra-base hits), each player nationally was given a rating that contributed to an overall score.

Farman, who ranked fifth nationally, made his debut at No. 22 Texas in the third game of the season and delivered a pinch-hit single. He started four games for the Broncos in 2020 and finished 7-for-17 (.412) with two doubles and a home run for a .706 slugging percentage.

Reagan Doss earned the No. 21 spot on the list. He homered on the first pitch he saw as a Bronco against the 22nd-ranked Longhorns. Appearing in 11 games, including seven starts, Doss batted .333 with a double and two homers. He slugged .593 and struck out just three times in 31 plate appearances.

Coming in at No. 23 was Kase Ogata. The first Boise State commit on the 2020 roster, Ogata started all-seven games in which he appeared. He batted .357 and recorded a .643 slugging percentage with two doubles and two home runs.

Rounding out the Broncos in the rankings was Torin Montgomery at No. 33. Montgomery started 13 of 14 games and led Boise State with three home runs. His 16 hits and .308 batting average were second on the squad. He collected three doubles and two triples and finished with a .615 slugging percentage.

Boise State and Texas Tech (three) were the only schools to have multiple freshmen in the top 35.
