GARDEN CITY, Idaho – Seattle U used a 16-hit attack and took advantage of four errors by Boise State to post an 11-5 nonconference baseball victory, Friday at Memorial Stadium.
The Redhawks (6-6) built a 7-1 lead after five innings against Boise State (4-4) starter and losing pitcher Travis Weston (1-2).
Jarrod Billig (2-2) went seven-strong innings for Seattle U, holding the Broncos to two runs, one earned, on four hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
Boise State trailed 11-2 entering the bottom of the eighth before rallying. Joe Yorke's two-run single cut the deficit to 11-4. In the ninth, back-to-back walks to Grant Kerry and Cole Posey put runners at first and second with one out.
Geon Hyoung Kim, who had three hits in the game, bounced into a force out at second. A wild pitch scored Kerry to account for the final run.
The teams meet in a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 2:05 p.m.
