BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State baseball team played just 14 games in 2020, but it was enough to make an impression on the pundits at D1Baseball.com.
 
The Broncos posted a 9-5 record and earned the media outlet's Most Surprising Team in the Mountain West honor.
 
Boise State suffered a pair of close losses to nationally-ranked Texas on the road before winning three-consecutive series at home. The Broncos closed their season winning two out of three games against Niagara, a squad that knocked off perennial power Florida State in the season opener.
 
Outfielder Michael Hicks was named the Best Senior in the Mountain West and pitcher Wesley Harper earned the Best Freshman accolade.
 
Hicks batted .386 with 11 RBI and eight doubles. He ranked seventh in the NCAA with 0.57 doubles per game.
 
Harper posted a 1.76 ERA (third in the Mountain West) over six relief appearances. He earned two saves and his .186 batting average against was runner-up in the conference.
