BOISE, Idaho – Boise State seniors Tatum Bruden and Maddi Nilson have been selected by their team as captains for the Broncos' upcoming gymnastics season, head coach Tina Bird announced Friday.
Bruden, from Peoria, Ariz., and Nilson, from Las Vegas, have each been named Scholastic All-Americans by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association in each of their previous seasons with the Broncos.
"I am looking forward to a great year with Maddi and Tatum leading the team," Bird said. "They have been studying leadership and, with the help of our other seniors, are ready to step into this important role."
Bruden joined the program as a freshman for the 2018 season, seeing action primarily on vault during her debut campaign. She added responsibilities on bars and floor in each of the last two seasons, and earned a victory on vault and floor this past season.
Nilson joined the Broncos as a freshman for the 2017 season, competing solely on bars during her collegiate debut. An injury shortened her sophomore campaign, but she was granted a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA. She has been a mainstay on vault, bars and floor in each of the last two seasons, earning her first-career victory on bars in 2020.
