BOISE, Idaho – Four Colorado State players scored in double figures and the Rams held Boise State to its lowest point total of the season in a 71-51 win at ExtraMile Arena, Wednesday.
With the victory, Colorado State (11-2, 7-2 Mountain West) broke a seven-game losing streak to Boise State (8-4, 5-4) and moved into sole possession of first place in the conference.
Jade Loville led the Broncos with 13 points and added six rebounds. Mary Kay Naro contributed nine points and a team-best seven boards.
The Rams used a 17-0 run in the first quarter to race out to a 19-4 lead, but the Broncos answered with the final 10 points of the stanza, five coming from Raigan Reed, and trailed 19-14 after 10 minutes.
Both teams struggled in the second quarter as they combined for 10 points on 4-for-31 shooting.
Boise State trailed 32-20 early in the third quarter before ripping off a 12-4 run, ignited by Loville's three-point play. Loville (seven points) and Kimora Sykes (five) supplied the offense during the surge.
The game was still tight when Elodie Lalotte's second-chance bucket made the score 42-38 with just over two minutes left in third quarter. However, the Rams delivered the knockout blow with a 14-0 run to push their advantage to 56-38 early in the fourth quarter.
The teams meet again, Friday at 1 p.m.
