Alyssa Wissinger led the Broncos with a team-high nine kills.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Alyssa Wissinger led a balanced offensive effort for Boise State with nine kills, but it was not enough as the Broncos fell in three at Sacramento State on Saturday. Boise State started slow and struggled hitting the ball throughout finishing the match at .184 percent while Sacramento State hit .350 percent.

The two teams split the nonconference season series with both encounters occurring in Sacramento, the Broncos won 3-0 on Sept. 11 on their way to winning the Sacramento State Invitational. Today's 25-16, 25-22, 25-19 loss is the third straight for the Blue and Orange who are now 15-8 overall.

The match saw a combined 19 ties and nine lead changes through the three sets. The first was close early before the Hornets pulled away midway through to win it by nine.

The second set was also tight with seven ties and four lead changes. Boise State led 20-19 only to watch Sacramento State rally with a 4-0 run to take momentum and eventually the win. The final set saw Boise State lead early on before the Hornets pulled away down the stretch to claim the set and match.

Wissinger led the Broncos with nine points — tied — on nine kills while hitting .286 percent. Kayly Pau tied Wissinger's point total on eight kills and two block assists.

Lauren Ohlinger and Paige Bartsch each added seven kills to round out a relatively balanced offense on Saturday. Ohlinger also had nine digs and one block assist, while Bartsch added a service ace and six digs.

Danielle Boss distributed 30 assists from the setter position with two kills, one service ace and four digs. Jolei Akima finished with a team-high 10 digs to lead the team's defensive effort.

Boise State will be back on the road next week when the Broncos return to Mountain West Conference play traveling to UNLV and San Diego State.
