BOISE, Idaho – Senior Dario De Caro, freshman Ahmed Ibrahim and senior Logan Rees have qualified for the 2021 Division I Men's Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Fla., the NCAA announced, Saturday afternoon.

"All three of these men have worked really hard this fall," said Boise State Cross Country Head Coach Corey Ihmels. "Although it's disappointing not to get the team through, they all are grateful for another opportunity to race at the national level. We are excited to see what they can do, Saturday."

Thirty-eight individuals were selected to participate in the men's championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process. All individual qualifiers must have finished in the top 25 in their respective regions.

At Friday's NCAA West Regional, De Caro paced the Broncos, beginning the 10k steady and taking off around the 2.5-mile mark to improve his position from 19th place to eighth (29:53.7).

Ibrahim and Rees followed closely behind De Caro, placing 15th (30:05.5) and 18th (30:11.6), respectively.

The three Bronco men secured three of the four men's individual qualifying spots in the West Region, with the other spot going to a Washington State student-athlete. This marks the first trip to a cross country national championship for both De Caro and Ibrahim. It is Rees' second (2019).

De Caro, the 2021 Mountain West Champion, has paced Boise State for most of the season. At the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational (Oct. 15) he led the Broncos in the championship race, garnering a 22nd-place finish.

In addition to his individual title at the MW Championships, De Caro was named the MW Men's Student-Athlete of the Year and notched MW First-Team All-Conference honors.

Ibrahim was the Broncos' top finisher at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Springfield, Ore., (Sept. 23), notching a sixth-place finish. The Portland, Ore., native was later named the MW Athlete and Freshman of the Week for his performance.

Rees was the second Bronco across the finish line at both the Bill Dellinger Invitational (Sept. 23) and Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational (Oct. 15), taking 10th and 38th, respectively.

This year's national championships are hosted by Florida State, Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. The men's race will commence at 9:10 a.m. MT.

Spectators are welcome to attend the event. Admission is $10 per person and tickets can be purchased in advance. Those not in attendance can follow the action on ESPNU and the ESPN App. Coverage begins at 8 a.m. MT.
