COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State forward Tyson Degenhart was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league announced Monday. Degenhart led the Broncos to a pair of wins last week over Santa Clara and Montana Tech. He averaged a team-best 16.5 points across the two games.

Boise State rallied for a 72-60 win Tuesday, against Santa Clara behind a game-high 18 points from Degenhart, including 12 after halftime. He scored six points during Boise State's game-deciding 17-2 run late in the second half. The freshman also led the team with two blocks and two steals, while matching his career high with six rebounds.

Degenhart followed that performance by scoring 15 points Sunday, in an 88-57 win against Montana Tech. He was 6-for-7 from the field, including 2-for-3 from three-point range, collected two steals and blocked one shot.

Degenhart has scored in double figures each of the last six games since being inserted into the starting lineup. It is the longest double-digit scoring streak by a Boise State freshman since Anthony Drmic scored at least 10 points in eight consecutive games during the 2011-12 season.

As a starter, Degenhart is averaging 15.3 points per game and during Boise State's current five-game win streak his scoring bumps up to 16.2 points per outing. Since entering the starting lineup, Degenhart is playing 31.8 minutes per game and shooting 61.4 percent from the floor, including 57.1 percent from three-point range.

The Broncos close out their nonconference schedule Wednesday, in Degenhart's hometown of Spokane, Wash., with a neutral-site matchup against Washington State. Tipoff is at 5 p.m. PT/6 p.m. MT at Spokane Arena. Tickets are available through the SpokaneArena.com. The game will be televised by Pac-12 Network.
